Cassowary Coast Employment provides employment
and on the job training services to job seekers with a disability.
Disability Employment Network
Cassowary Coast Employment
(CCE) is one of a network of specialist employment services across
Australia that helps job seekers with a disability to find and maintain
employment. CCE provides both the Capped and Uncapped DEN programs,
with services that are individually tailored to meet the employment
needs of its jobseekers to enable the effective delivery of these
services:
- assistance with pre-employment preparation and training,
including work experience placements
- job search support including
resume completion, job application, interview skills training and
help looking for suitable jobs
- support when placed in employment
including on the job training and support for co-workers and employers,
and resolving problems at work
- on-going support in a job when and
as needed
- vocational training and other types of assistance
and
- provide access to employer incentives such as wage
subsidies and workplace modification.
As a disability employment
network, CCE works with jobseekers whose disability is permanent
or likely to be permanent and where it largely affects the individual’s
capacity to communicate, learn or move around. To receive help from
CCE, a jobseeker must need assistance for more than six months after
being placed in a job or need ongoing support to keep a job. CCE
can also help people with a disability in ‘job in jeopardy’ situations.
Employees who are likely to lose their job as a result of their disability
may be able to receive immediate help or support from CCE to keep
their job.
How to access CCE’s DEN
There are two ways to access
Cassowary Coast Employment’s DEN programs – through a referral from
Centrelink or by contacting the CCE office directly.
If you are looking
for work and have contacted Centrelink, Centrelink may arrange an
assessment of your work capacity by a Job Capacity Assessor (JCA)
to determine the most appropriate employment service, and then make
a referral to that service.
If you contact CCE first, CCE may refer
you to a JCA or to Centrelink to work out the right services for
you. If CCE is the best service for you, the JCA will connect you
to CCE.
